38th Annual Rogue Valley Hiroshima-Nagasaki Remembrance

Peace House and our partners will hold a Vigil of Remembrance at the entrance to Lithia Park to mark the bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki in August of 1945. Each year, we bring together our community and host a solemn commemoration of the US deployment of nuclear bombs on the two Japanese cities. The event includes the Lighting of the Memorial Flame, the Sounding of Gong, Water Ceremony, and Music. A Reflection by Rev. Elizabeth (Liz) Olson, Remarks by Elizabeth V. Hallett, Director of Peace House and Dr. Michael Niemann, SOU Professor of Intl.Studies (retired), and Readings from the Mayoral Declarations of Hiroshima and Ashland Mayor.
